Science marches on !
"Spectroscopic Discrimination of Shit from Shinola"

We conducted an experiment to determine whether people can tell shit from Shinola (a brand of shoe polish once manufactured in the United States).
We find that to the human eye, the two substances are inseparable given similar morphology, whereas with near-infrared spectroscopy one is easily distinguished from the other
