Revolutionary War Re-enactors at National Constitution Center July 2nd - 4th


From Monday, July 2nd through Wednesday July 4th, the 6th Pennsylvania Regiment and other Revolutionary War re-enactment groups will be inside the National Constitution Center -- across from Independence Hall -- in the heart of Historic Philadelphia.

Soldiers and campfollowers will illustrate the lives of the Patriots during our War for Independence. This 4th of July, experience history in the birthplace of Liberty.

The Fourth of July Show
Friday – Sunday: 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m.
Monday – Thursday: 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m.
The Fourth of July has always been celebrated with a bang!  From parades to protests, cannons to flag waving, explosive words to fiery demonstrations, the Fourth of July Show takes an in-depth look at this exciting celebration by exploring it over time from the very first words of independence to the present day.  This show also explores how famous Americans have made their voices heard while fighting for freedom.


Demonstrations
Daily, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Guests will learn a variety of colonial-era tasks including butter churning and candle and paper making during special demonstrations.


Star Spangled Banner Show
Friday – Sunday: 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m.
Monday – Thursday: 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m.
Learn the story of Francis Scott Key, the Battle of Fort McHenry and the flag that inspired our national anthem.


Flag Etiquette Workshops
Friday – Sunday: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m.
Monday – Thursday: 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m.
Most people know that our flag can never touch the ground, but the US flag code is much more extensive than that.  In this workshop, visitors will discover the history and symbolism behind the US flag, and learn about the proper way to treat it!


Arts and Crafts

Children and their families can make Uncle Sam, Lady Liberty and George Washington hats, as well as star wands and wreaths, pinwheels, and crepe paper flags.
